We pride ourselves on using a sympathetic touch, choosing to carefully revive a finish to preserve each piece's original character where possible. We can carry out all the major disciplines in furniture restoration: carving to recreate missing detailing; veneer patching; making missing mouldings; making good to gilded frames and furniture; structural repairs; lathe-turning finials, knobs, and spindles; cutting replacement keys; replacing missing or damaged handles; and reviving, conserving, or re-polishing surfaces to all antique furniture.

Here are a few examples of the sort of work we regularly carry out;

Chests of Drawers

Structural repairs to the carcass, attending to veneer damage, replacing worn drawer runners, cutting keys, carving-in missing trims and cockbeading around drawer fronts, bringing back life and warmth to the finish, and polishing if necessary.

Tables

Tables of all sizes from delicate tripod wine tables up to large extending dining tables are given the sort of treatment that is so often required; attending to structural stability, addressing water-damaged or heat-damaged surfaces, carving-in missing mouldings, and improving the finish generally, by reviving or - where necessary - re-polishing.

Chairs

Correcting unstable joints, making new components where broken, carving-in missing sections, reviving the finish, and polishing. Single chairs or complete sets.

This gives you the opportunity to have a say and make adjustments as you think necessary.
